It's pretty good. Not alot happens in the first hour, then California all but blows up and then it gets interesting. John Cusak on fine form and a pretty enjoyable cast. It's all a bit cliche, but fun cliche, if you switch your brain off.

I also bought Star Trek on 2-Disc DVD and Oh My God it rocked! I mean, I saw it in the cinema, but seeing it again was awesome. In more related DVD news, Terminator Salvation comes out on DVD next week! I must have it!

In other news, I hear that the "Powers That Be" want to remake Highlander! Who wants to remake Highlander? How can you get any better than the original? The main question in my mind is: will this one spawn endlessly crap sequels as well?

Alas, in the end, there should have been only one! ... Sorry, that needed to be said. It's true though, we don't need anymore. Let Connor MacLeod rest in peace, God knows he's had 400+ plus years of hell to go through to get there.

And so I finish this here post with the usual sentiment. I keep forgetting my password. Seriously, my mind is vessel of forgetfullness and my memory closely resembles that of a goldfish suffering from Alzheimer's.

Life has been good thus far and I say this with due sarcasm as my Laptop - my faithful companion for the last two or so years - has begun it's slow downward slip into the land of malfunction and disrepair. I find myself expectionally excited for the next two (For those who don't know ... or are just information deprived ... which would be most of you - the final book is being seperated into two films).

Personally I think they should retitle the next film. Perhaps something along the lines of "Harry Potter and the Search for The Horcruxes" and the final film be called "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". At least the titles would make sense... also I don't like the whole Parts 1&2 thing. Make them seperate films, it works better.

On another note, I recently purchased Watchmen on DVD. This is also an excellent film and one that I would like to watch with someone who will understand exactly what the kcuf is going on... hehe.

Perhaps I should have started this post with something along the lines of:
"Kyle's Journal.
October 12th 1985

Dog carcus in alley this morning. Tire tread over burst stomach. This City's afraid of me, I've seen it's true face... Seriously, I have you non-believing gits. Now, where was I? The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "...Oh alright then" then grin like a loon"

Well, that's all for now. Met an Irish lass in an Irish pub (who'da thunk it?), got insanely drunk and visited Hooters. Well, I say visited... I stood outside and got my photo taken. I also walked five hours from my hotel in Los Christianos to Torviscus and boy did my feet hurt afterwards.

So I come home and find everything as I left it. It's strange how life does that to you. You go away for two weeks and when you get back you wish you'd never left on account of seeing all your precious valubles again.

In other news, a biscuit will replace Michael Winner in those god awful Esure adverts. Am I the only person completely pissed off with the guy and his lack of good acting? A biscuit could do a better job, honestly!

What else is there to tell? Ah, yes I remember. Work on my recent pilot goes not very well. I can't decide on the direction of the series and thus I feel as though I can't finish the pilot. I could finish it, just to see how people react to it and get some feedback but with the feature length format, I'd be as well making it a movie.

Ah, the trials and tribulations of Virtual Screenwriting. A relatively quick flight followed by a not to long wait for suitcases and a five minute drive to the hotel.

Wow. That was pure awesomeness. Okay, so it wasn't as good as Star Trek, but I wasn't expecting it to be. TS is simply the closest any other sequel has managed to get to being as good as T2 and is much improved over T3.

All the elements were there and I had the feeling that the film was a rather large homage to the previous three films, while trying to start off it's own storylines. The continuity was also there, such as Connor's scar and Kate's pregnancy.

In terms of story I would have preferred it if Blair and Barnes had had more character development, but I guess that can come in time with this being the first of a new trilogy. There were times when I thought "Where are they going with this?" before I realised that the main plot was John Connor saving young Kyle Reese and thus the future as well. So really it hasn't deviated from the formula, McG has simply put a new twist on the "Person of importance who must be protected" element of the story. Which was a nice touch and was much better done than T3.

The acting was terrific and Christian Bale turned in an absolutley amazing performance as a fated mesiah who feels that he doesn't know what's going on anymore. I quote from the trailer "This isn't the war, my mother warned me about". Bryce Dallas Howard feels completely natural at his side offering much needed support. Seeing his fellow resistance soldiers rallying around him and drawing hope from one man is a great sight to behold.

Also, watch out for a cameo by everyone's favourite muscle-bound machine, and his catchphrase.

Overall, the film left me speechless. As a sequel it doesn't do much to reinvigorate the franchise, but works instead as a new stepping stone for the next one. The war has only just begun.

"I'll be back!"

News From The Resistance - Upcoming Field Mission

If you are reading this then you are part of the resistance...

Aren't you lucky!

I'm off to see Terminator Salvation tomorrow, so expect a frank review. Though, I have to say it looks Awesome.

On another note, I recently saw Angels & Demons, the long awaited sequel to The Da Vinci Code and it was great. Not as great as the novel, but as films go it was pretty good. I found the plot streamlined, which actually worked in it's favour, and I enjoyed the mystery and race against time. It was like a religous 24. A couple of characters where changed around and a couple were neglected entirely. Still, one hardly notices as the plot moves rapidly, making you urge Robert Langdon to reach the end.

Robert Langdon seems to me to be a modern Indiana Jones, with all the adventure swapped for twisting plot lines and deep mysteries. Both characters are essentially the same. Both are University Professors, both excell at history... and both are always called in to save the day from some religous nutcase.

Well that's all from me for now. Remember, support the resistance and smash these metal fothermuckers into junk!

News From The Resistance - May The Force Be With Us All

I was watching Star Wars Episode III this morning.

I remember seeing it in the cinema. I walked in to the triumphant Star Wars music playing over the speakers in an attempt to rouse the crowd into a frenzy. It worked for me.

The film began and we were thrust into a space battle, zigging and zagging through death and destruction wrapped in darkness and silence. Anakin and Obi-Wan triumphantly saving the soon-to-be Emperor. It is unfortunate that the original trilogy came first, as the reveal of Palpatine's knowledge of the dark side would have been quite startling to the viewer. Oh, well.

I feel as though Natalie Portman's Padme lost some of her hard, action-girl appeal. I remember a Padme who fought alongside her boyfriend in an Roman like colloseum. In this sixth installment however, Padme is reduced to a simpering fool. Perhaps it's the pregnancy, or maybe it's just bad writing, but I felt that Portman's talents were wasted here.

Anakin's fall from grace was portrayed beautifully, showing his beginning as a hero and decent into villian. The most gut-wrenching scene would have to be the scene set in the Jedi Council chambers, where Anakin kills a group of frightened children. Absolutely no remorse in his eyes whatsoever. At this point, he has become Darth Vader.

Palpatine's puppet master-like presence is chilling and I love the way he has managed to weave every strand together to get what he wants: Absolute control.

Overall I think the film has a few problems, but it is still an enjoyable movie to sit back with on a Saturday night.

My opinion: If you want a good film to watch, check this out. You could do far worse, as this is a great popcorn adventure. Your Saturday will be complete with some Star Wars-y goodness thrown in for good measure.

News From The Resistance: Working Woes

Well, I'm going on holiday in just over a week and I can't wait. Tenerife, here I come! It'll be good to kick back and relax.

You remember the Virtual Productions I was talking about. Well, I've got a show in mind and this two week holiday will allow me to focus on that and perhaps meet some rather lovely ladies... Yes, I have that sort of mind! Deal with it.

Now, unfortunately I may not have a job to come back home to. Y'see, my manager has been screwing me around and I don't think that I'm going to be doing this job for long. I'll be gone buddy...

...

But on the bright side - I'll be gone buddy! I hate that job. All day long, sitting on my ass, doing nothing but smiling and pretending to be pleasent. I hate it.

Still, hopefully onto college after this, which is where I should have gone after High School. Thankfully, I can still go there. Phew!

Until next time.

News From The Resistance - It's getting dire out here folks!

Welcome to my blog!

There isn't a whole lot for me to say right now, except to introduce myself. Well, here goes -

My name is Kyle and I am an aspiring novelist. One day, I will publish a novel... one day I tell you! ONE DAMN DAY!

...

Okay, that's was a little bit over the top, wasn't it? Yeah, I thought so. My spare time is taken up with making graphics for my other hobby - Virtual Productions. Yeah, I know it's sounds geeky - but it isn't! It's a serious game for those who wish to play. You have to be commited, and ready to do all that is asked of you.

It also helps to be a little bit crazy.

Well that really is me in a nutshell, so I'm going to end this, my first post. But don't worry... I'll be back!
